Jim Starzynski

Principal Engineer and Audio Architect, NBC - Universal Advanced Engineering
Jim Starzynski is Principal Engineer for NBC Advanced Technology, working on HDTV and overseeing audio technologies and practices for all NBC broadcast and cable properties. He is responsible for establishing NBC's audio strategy for DTV and works with leading manufacturers to develop next-generation audio and video systems.  Formerly, Jim served 14 years as network project engineer.
Jim's worked on many facilities at NBC, including Today's sidewalk studio, Saturday Night Live and Conan's audio facilities and the all-digital network broadcast operations center. Jim was a key contributor to the design of CNBC's World Headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, NJ where he was responsible for satellite and audio systems. Jim worked on the HDTV presentation of the 2002 Winter Olympics from Salt Lake City and 2004 Summer Games from Athens. He holds three Emmy Awards for technical achievement for the 1992, 2002 and 2004 Olympic broadcasts. Jim has been a frequent contributor to Broadcast Engineering Magazine since 1996. He and his wife Suzanne reside in Monmouth County, NJ.
